Job Purpose:
To manage the day to day running of a busy private nursery so that the Nursery standards are met by staff in all departments of the nursery.
To assist the Nursery Manager in all areas of their role as detailed below
Skills:
Must have NVQ Level 3 in childcare and or early years or similar higher educational childcare qualification
Must have nvq level 3 or 4 in management or proven management experience of a private or local authority nursery.
Must have proven knowledge and experience of managing staff, teams, individual staff management and motivational skills.
Areas of Responsibility
Team Management
1. The efficient and effective management of staff, ensuring that all staff functions are performed in line with the Nursery’s systems, policies, procedures and employee handbook.
2. Undertake all recruitment in order that the most appropriate staff are identified for selection and cost efficiency is maintained at all times.
3. Carry out staff inductions on first day, ensuring that they are fully aware of their responsibilities as an employee of the nursery and are aware of the company’s policies and procedures.
4. Identify staff training and development needs through observations and quality monitoring and regular Performance Reviews.
5. Plan and carry out regular Performance Reviews (minimum twice a year) for the deputy manager.
6. Plan, conduct and attend all regular staff meetings.
Salary: £18,000 - £25,000 + incentives etc - (Negotiable - depending on proven management experience).
Hours of work – full time – Monday to Friday only (from 8am – 6pm (variable).
Holidays: 24 days + bank holidays
